TOUR DE
FRANCE. Lance Armstrong finished first in the 2003 Tour
de France in July, tying an international record by winning his fifth Tour in a
row (the first American to do so). This was the 100th Tour de France, an international
team bicycle race that lasts three weeks and covers approximately 2,500 miles.
TOUR OF HOPE. From October 11 through October 18, Lance
Armstrong is leading 20 cyclists across the United States on the Tour of Hope
to inspire and inform the public about the importance of cancer research. The 20
riders are all involved in the cancer community in some way as survivors,
physicians, nurses, caregivers, researchers or loved ones. Subaru of America is
a sponsor of this unprecedented 3,000-mile, week-long ride (www.tourofhope.org).
