2011 Subaru Forester Models
THE AWARD-WINNING, THIRD-GENERATION FORESTER ENTERS ITS THIRD YEAR WITH ADDITIONAL MODELS IN THE LINEUP, A FRESH FACE, MORE COMPREHENSIVE AUDIO SYSTEMS, AND THE FIRST NEW SUBARU ENGINE IN 20 YEARS.
For 2011, Subaru improves on the excellent combination of Subaru Core Technology, versatile interior, and efficient drivetrain found in the Forester. Exterior details, interior electronics, and a completely new engine design highlight the changes.
Touring models now top the Forester lineup, and they build on the Forester 2.5X Limited (non-turbocharged) and the 2.5XT Premium (turbocharged). Standard equipment for Touring models include 4-speed electronic direct-control automatic transmissions, the All-Weather Package (heated exterior mirrors, heated front seats, and windshield wiper de-icer), electroluminescent instrumentation, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter, cargo-area tray, High Intensity Discharge (HID) low-beam headlights, panoramic power moonroof, and more.
Outside, all Forester models receive a new grille. In addition, Touring models have exterior mirrors with integrated turn signals as well as silver-finished roof rails. XT models receive a redesigned rear spoiler.
Inside, minor color and material changes help to make Forester more comfortable. The dash panel is now a textured soft shell, and steering wheel control switches have gone from silver to black for improved visibility.
Plus, in Touring models, levers in the cargo area control a rear seatback folding feature, allowing users to lower the rear seatbacks from the rear gate opening.
But electronics are the big story inside the 2011 Forester. For example, Bluetooth®1 is standard on all but the 2.5X. New audio systems are standard on Premium, Limited, and Touring models. A rear vision camera is standard with this system on Touring models and available as an accessory on the 2.5X Limited.
Plus, an optional TomTom®2 navigation system for the 2.5X Premium includes a removable 4.3-inch touch-screen portable device. (See the 2011 Product Preview for Parts and Accessories below for more on the TomTom navigation system.)
Also, HD Radio™ technology is available for Limited and Touring models.
In non-turbocharged models, a new engine (designated FB25) sits under the hood. It has the first completely new design from Subaru in 20 years.
Subaru had a number of goals for FB25, including improved fuel economy and higher performance, especially at low engine speeds (low-end torque). Major differences between the FB25 and the EJ25 (which remains the engine of choice for turbocharged Forester models) include:
Compared with the previous non-turbocharged EJ25 engine, the FB25 produces:
The 2011 Forester is scheduled to be in your dealers showroom in October.
WHATS NEW FOR 2011
2011 Subaru Tribeca Models
TRIBECA, THE LARGEST SUBARU VEHICLE, CARRIES OVER ALL OF ITS VERSATILITY, REFINEMENT, AND CONFIDENCE INTO THE 2011 MODEL YEAR.
Tribeca models and features remain the same in 2011 as they did in 2010. Subaru adds a new color choice – Caramel Bronze Pearl.
SUBARU CORE TECHNOLOGY
Like all Subaru vehicles, Tribeca features Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and a SUBARU BOXER engine – a 3.6-liter 6-cylinder that uses regular gas. The balanced Tribeca drivetrain powers all four wheels for added traction plus exceptional control and handling.
Standard chassis features that contribute to enhanced safety include Vehicle Dynamics Control with the Traction Control System, Brake Assist, and Tire Pressure Monitoring System.
Tribeca is the first and only Subaru model with seven seating positions. The second-row seats have 40/20/40-split flat-folding seatbacks and adjust 7.8 inches fore and aft as well as recline. The third-row seats have 50/50-split flat-folding seatbacks. These features allow a wide variety of passenger and cargo combinations.
Other interior highlights that make travel more pleasant include dual-zone automatic climate control, XM®3 Satellite Radio capability, Bluetooth wireless phone capability, and available 385-watt 10-speaker harman/kardon®4 premium audio system.
Three packages are available on Limited and Touring models: Power Moonroof Package, Navigation Package, and available Navigation and Rear Seat Entertainment Package.
Space limitations prevent a detailed walkaround of the 2011 Tribeca. To learn more, go to www.subaru.com or see your dealer.
NEW ADDITIONS TO THE GENUINE SUBARU ACCESSORY LINEUP FOR 2011 ENABLE OWNERS TO PERSONALIZE THEIR SUBARU VEHICLES. THESE ACCESSORIES ARE DESIGNED TO IMPROVE APPEARANCE, PERFORMANCE, VERSATILITY, COMFORT, AND/OR CONVENIENCE.
The newest accessory offerings from Subaru cover a gamut of features for Legacy, Outback, Forester, and Impreza.
LEATHER-TRIMMED SHIFT KNOB FOR LEGACY AND OUTBACK
The leather on this shift knob matches the perforated design of the leather seat inserts found in Legacy and Outback Limited models. The leather-trimmed shift knob enhances the stylish interiors of both vehicles for model years 2010 and 2011. The shift knobs are scheduled for availability late fall 2010.
SIDE WINDOW DEFLECTORS FOR LEGACY AND OUTBACK
For those who enjoy fresh air but without the moisture that sometimes accompanies it, Subaru offers side window deflectors. The design includes integrated chrome inserts to match the window-frame trim on 2010 and 2011 Legacy and Outback models.
BODY-SIDE MOLDING FOR LEGACY AND OUTBACK
To help protect the doors of your vehicle from dents and dings, Subaru has accessory body-side moldings. Order them to match the color of your 2010 or 2011 Legacy or Outback. (Theyre available late fall 2010.)
110-VOLT POWER OUTLET FOR LEGACY AND OUTBACK
The accessory power outlet provides an additional two-prong source for 110-volt, 100-watt electrical power in a Legacy or Outback. The outlet is installed on the back of the center console, facing the rear seat.
REAR CHROME TRIM FOR LEGACY AND OUTBACK
Add a touch of chrome to the trunk of a Legacy or the tailgate of an Outback for a custom appearance. The chrome panel replaces the original painted panel and fits 2010 and 2011 models. (Legacy trunk trim will be available early winter.)
BREAKAWAY EXTERIOR MIRROR KIT
Exclusively for 2010 Outback and Legacy, the breakaway mirror kit replaces the original stationary mirrors. The new mirrors fold for driving through or parking in tight spaces, and they help reduce injury to bicyclists and pedestrians by folding on impact.
Two other special features are the Mobile Internet for Outback and the TomTom navigation system for Impreza and Forester.
SUBARU MOBILE INTERNET5 FOR 2011 OUTBACK
Using Internet technology provided by Autonet Mobile, Subaru offers Wi-Fi connectivity for the 2011 Outback. Autonet Mobile was the worlds first in-car Internet service provider.
By creating a Wi-Fi hotspot inside the Outback, the system gives 10 or more users access for up to 150 feet around the vehicle. It allows Wi-Fi-enabled devices to operate on the 3G network using a safe, fully encrypted connection with download speeds averaging between 400 kbps to 1.2 mbps. The systems unique technology manages data as the vehicle travels between cell phone towers, maintaining the connection to the Internet.
Supported devices include Wi-Fi-capable laptop computers, netbooks, smart phones, game consoles, iPad™, and iPod touch®.
The system is designed to provide uninterrupted Wi-Fi capability for passenger access while the Outback is in motion. With it, passengers can access e-mail, listen to Internet radio, stream video, post to social networking sites, check weather and traffic, download hiking trails, reserve a campsite while on the road, and more.
Wi-Fi service can be added to any 2010 or 2011 Subaru Outback. A one-year subscription at $29 per month is required, with Subaru providing the first three months of service for free.
Comprehensive user support is included through joint Subaru and Autonet Mobile customer service resources. As a Genuine Subaru Accessory, Subaru Mobile Internet is covered under the Subaru New Vehicle Limited Warranty.
