Declaration for Success – Subaru Dealer Meeting, 2006

The 2006 Subaru Legacy has received the Top Safety Pick Gold award from the nonprofit Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). It is the highest award given by the IIHS, recognizing the safety level of tested cars in different crash situations.

In the IIHS crash tests, the effects of frontal, side and rear impacts are investigated. Tests are conducted at speeds higher than required by the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. The test results lead to the selection of the Best Pick, and charts available to consumers show a tested vehicle’s ratings as poor, marginal, acceptable or good.

The Subaru Legacy tests represented the first time that one car in the midsize class received the highest valuation in each of the tests. Fred Adcock, executive vice president, Subaru of America, Inc. commented about the tests: “The safety of our customers is of the utmost importance to Subaru. That’s why we were so pleased to receive the Top Safety Pick Gold award from the IIHS for the 2006 Legacy, as further validation of our commitment to overall occupant safety.”
