The nonprofit Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has given the 2008 Subaru Impreza 2.5i with Vehicle Dynamics Control its coveted “Top Safety Pick” award. The Impreza received “GOOD” ratings in the frontal, side-impact, and rear-impact crash tests for both the driver and passenger seating positions.

The 2008 Impreza is the first and only small car to earn this highest rating in the most recent IIHS crash tests, which now require side head protection and electronic stability control. Reporting on the vehicle’s capabilities in a crash situation, the IIHS highlighted the reinforced pillar behind the rear passenger door, the standard side airbags, and the front-seat active head restraints.
