NATIONAL RIVER CLEANUP WEEK

NATIONAL RIVER CLEANUP WEEK

Since 1992, the American Rivers organization has held National River Cleanup Week, which has helped raise public awareness of the magnitude of trash accumulating in American waterways. During that time, more than 500,000 volunteers have participated in more than 4,500 cleanups across the country, covering more than 100,000 miles of waterways.

For 2007, National River Cleanup Week takes place June 2-10 (the beginning of National River Awareness Month). Anyone wishing to organize a cleanup can do so by first identifying a stretch of river, stream, or shoreline, then registering online. To register or volunteer, visit www.nationalrivercleanup.org/index.php.

Subaru is the official vehicle of National River Cleanup Week.
