CAPITAL VELO CLUB CYCLING TEAM ANNOUNCES TWO-YEAR PARTNERSHIP WITH SUBARU OF NEW ENGLAND

Subaru of New England has partnered with Capital Velo Club (CVC) bicycle racing team for two years of title sponsorship. CVC now is known as CVC/Subaru of New England. The Glastonbury, Connecticut, team has been based in and around Hartford since 1989.

CVC/Subaru of New England competes in men’s and women’s events. The team supports many junior racers as well, some of whom have moved into the professional ranks.

“CVC’s mission has always been to promote the sport of bicycle racing and to educate kids how to race their bikes,” said team president Henk Paggioli. “Juniors can learn everything from correct training techniques, nutrition, race tactics, etc. ... the team helps by supplying the needed equipment to participate in the sport.”

The team also is active within its local community. It supports statewide initiatives to build safer roads for the local cycling community, and it helps charitable organizations find helmets, bicycles, and equipment for underprivileged children.

In June, the team will host the memorial Keith Berger Criterium in East Hartford, Connecticut. With this race, CVC/Subaru of New England will help raise funds for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and for helping youth cyclists.
